Since I am writing this blog on January 5, 2013 we can all safely say that the Mayan calendar was not a prediction for the end of the world, or a quick change for life as we know it. Prehaps that was not what they were alerting us to. Rather it may have been the foretelling of a new future for the human race.
In the 70s we sang about the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, a kinder, more spiritual time. If it dawned in 1970 are we now in that age?
With the recent US shooting tragedies, a number of wars currently being fought in the Middle East, hunger and pestilence in Africa, drug wars South of our Borders, and a record number of Natural Disasters all over the world just to name a few of the world’s trials, can we even make a case for a more enlightened future? I would like to try. Maybe give some reasons why a very few of the world’s woes might evaporate.
The most obvious, right here in the United States, is that there are now a record number of women in the US Senate. I believe they will get more things accomplished. Women work better together than men do, they discuss openly in order to achieve a goal, and have less testosterone clouding any reasonable compromise to any problem.
This year women were 53 percent of the Presidential vote. Can a female President be far behind? How many women willingly would send their sons or daughters to fight a war we have no business being in? Not for money, that’s for sure. I predict there will be more negotiations with foreign powers. We might get the point across without shedding a drop of blood. I also predict the voice of women will rise all over the world shouting out for the end of murder of their own citizens. This force has been waiting to rise for ages. Is it possible we are in the age of reason?
Men are also weary of the horrific dictators who care nothing for the people, but rather stuff their own pockets full of gold. The quest for power for power’s sake is an antiquated one. I predict honorable men will back the voices of women ready to start fixing this world. Time and energy will be spent on agriculture, industrialization of primitive societies, and the greatest engine of them all, education.
Am I looking at life through a beautiful prism? Maybe. But I think the signs are here. The meow is morphing into a roar from women all over the world. Everyday we should live our lives to making the Mayan Calendar an
accurate foretelling of the future. Wouldn’t it be nice, and why not?
